I Will Stand In Humility

Series: I Will Stand

I Will Stand In Humility

March 06, 2016 | Michael Davis
Daniel 5:22

Notes

How should what we know of God shape everything about us?

1.  Stand in humility, for God is a Holy God!

  • Use that which God has declared sacred to honor Him!

2.  Stand in His Righteousness, for God is a gracious God.

3.  Stand faithful to God, for God is ALWAYS faithful!

  • Man will forget you, but God never will.

Verses

{“You knew all this, yet you have not humbled yourself.” Daniel 5:22 NLT}{“While Belshazzar was drinking the wine, he gave orders to bring in the gold and silver cups that his predecessor, Nebuchadnezzar, had taken from the Temple in Jerusalem… While they drank from them they praised their idols made of gold, silver, bronze, iron, wood, and stone.” Daniel 5:2,4 NLT}{“I will not let my reputation be tarnished, and I will not share my glory with idols!” Isaiah 49:11 NLT}{“His knees knocked together in fear and his legs gave way beneath him.” Daniel 5:6 NLT}{“Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NLT}{“And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.” Colossians 3:17 NLT}{“This is the message that was written: Mene, mene, tekel, and Parsin. This is what these words mean: Mene means ‘numbered’—God has numbered the days of your reign and has brought it to an end. Tekel means ‘weighed’—you have been weighed on the balances and have not measured up. Parsin means ‘divided’—your kingdom has been divided and given to the Medes and Persians.” Daniel 5:25-28 NLT}{“That very night Belshazzar, the Babylonian king, was killed.” Daniel 5:30 NLT}{“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood.” Romans 3:23-25 NLT}{“So Daniel was brought in before the king. The king asked him, “Are you Daniel, one of the exiles brought from Judah by my predecessor, King Nebuchadnezzar?” Daniel 5:13 NLT}{'Call for Daniel.' Daniel 5:12 NLT}

Quotes

Larry Osborne : “He offers us a model for not only surviving but actually thriving in the midst of a godless environment. He found a way, in a culture far more wicked than anything we face, to glorify and serve God with such integrity and power that kings, peasants, and an entire nation turned to acknowledge the splendor of the living God.” (Thriving In Babylon); Charles Spurgeon : “Every Christian has a choice between being humble or being humbled.” (Sermons); John Piper : “You exist forever. You and God are both in the universe to stay—either as friends on His terms, or enemies. Which it will be is proven in this life. And this life is a vapor. Two seconds, and we will be gone.” (Life is a Vapor);
