Passage: Ephesians 2:14-16

Notes

When God changes my heart towards Him… He also changes it towards you.

Things God revealed to me about my heart:

  1. There is much I don’t understand, and that which I don’t understand I’ve often chosen to ignore.
  2. Racism dwells deep within my heart.

How the heart of God should shape our heart:

  1. Celebrate the Image of God in ALL people.
  2. Celebrate Christ in Christians coupled with Christ-like compassion for those who do not know Jesus.
  3. Celebrate color in people for Heaven will be colorful.

Verses

{“For Christ himself has brought peace to us. He united Jews and Gentiles into one people when, in his own body on the cross, he broke down the wall of hostility that separated us… Together as one body, Christ reconciled both groups to God by means of his death on the cross, and our hostility toward each other was put to death. He brought this Good News of peace to you Gentiles who were far away from him, and peace to the Jews who were near. Now all of us can come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us.” Ephesians 2:14, 16-17 NLT}{“For Christ himself has brought peace to us. He united Jews and Gentiles into one people when, in his own body on the cross, he broke down the wall of hostility that separated us." Ephesians 2:14 NLT}{“So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” Genesis 1:27 NLT}{“For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes. There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3:26-27 NLT}{When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.” Matthew 9:36-38 NLT}{After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes and held palm branches in their hands. And they were shouting with a great roar, “Salvation comes from our God who sits on the throne and from the Lamb!” Revelation 7:9-10 NLT}

Quotes

David Platt : “These words beautifully describe the unique power of the gospel to reunite people from (and, for that matter, within) different ethnic groups. And it makes sense, doesn’t it? For in the beginning, sin separated man and woman from God and also from one another. When Christ went to the cross, he conquered sin, making the way for people to be free from its hold and restored to God. In so doing, He paved the way for all people to be reconciled to one another.” (Counter Culture ); David Kinnaman & Gabe Lyons : “The most destructive prejudices are hidden, packed so far down in our psyche that we don’t even know they’re there.”
(Good Faith); David Kinnaman & Gabe Lyons : “Implicit racial biases are the unconscious attitudes or stereotypes related to race that affect our perceptions, actions, and decisions. Our biases are not explicit or deliberate, yet they have enormous power over how we see society overall and individuals who look, speak, and live differently than we do.” (Good Faith);
