Passage: John 8:32-36
Notes
His resurrection validates every thing Jesus ever said. Jesus said many things but one of the most powerful and controversial things Jesus ever said was...
"If the Son sets you free, you are truly free.” What does 'true freedom' look like? What does it mean for us to be 'truly free?' When we know 'the Truth', that is to say, when we know Jesus, we can declare with confidence and conviction:
- I am free from that which keeps me from God forever!
- I am free to be a child of God forever!
Verses
{“And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. But we are descendants of Abraham,” they said. “We have never been slaves to anyone. What do you mean, ‘You will be set free’? Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave of sin. A slave is not a permanent member of the family, but a son is part of the family forever. So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free." John 8:32-36 NLT}{“It’s your sins that have cut you off from God.” Isaiah 59:2 NLT}{Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 NLT}{“And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives… We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin.” Romans 6:4, 6-7 NLT}{“But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.” John 1:12 NLT}{“For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3:26 NLT}
