On Friday, June 1st, 2024… so ten weeks ago, I began sharing some thoughts on how the LORD used a book called the Ragamuffin Gospel written by Brennan Manning, a former Franciscan priest, to help set me free from a performance-driven faith.
Since first reading the Ragamuffin Gospel in 1991, as you might imagine, I’ve had many spiritual highs, and many spiritual lows. There have been many stumbles and falls along the way… like a lot! But over the past 30+ years, God has been exceedingly gracious to ROOT something out of me.
The whole idea of performing for God… the concept that there are things that I can do to make God love me more and things I can do to make God love me less, well, that’s OUT OF ME.
By no means have I arrived in my faith journey, far from it, but one thing is for sure, I am FREE from a performance-driven faith.
Over the past ten weeks, I have shared my musings, 4,770 words to be exact, about my journey to being set free. And to be very honest, this Ragamuffin Series was a bit more for me than you. It has been so incredibly helpful for me to reflect upon on ALL that God taught me through that one book.
And in this last post, if I could share one thing with you, just one thing that I hope you’ll never forget… one thing that I think (trust) God might use to help you keep walking with Him very light, and very free it would be this:
YOU ARE LOVED BY GOD AND THERE IS NOTHING YOU DID TO EARN THAT OR DESERVE THAT.
You can’t make God love you more.
And you can’t make God love you any less.
In Christ, you are loved by God completely and perfectly.
So…
Enjoy His love.
Explore His love.
Rest in His love.
Live in His love.
Share His love.
Allow His love for you to shape everything about you. When you think about who you are, well, you are one who is DEEPLY LOVED BY GOD.
