Welcome to Day #1 of 2025.
And WELCOME to DAY #1 of 21 DAYS OF PRAYER!
For the past eight years, GENESIS has set aside the first 21 DAYS of the New Year for a focused time of prayer. The themes have varied from year to year, but the one constant has been God’s grace in moving in response to the prayers of His people.
In 2025, our theme… our focus will be LIFE OF PRAYER.
For far too long, prayer was just a compartment in the many compartments of my overly compartmentalized life. Roughly two years ago, the LORD impressed heavily on my heart to STOP pursuing a prayer life and start practicing a LIFE OF PRAYER.
Grammatically speaking, the difference between ‘PRAYER LIFE’ and ‘LIFE OF PRAYER’ might be subtle but these two are worlds apart.
Over the next 21 DAYS I am praying that together we will not only see the difference but begin to enter into and experience ALL that the LORD has for those who practice a LIFE OF PRAYER.
A few things for you as WE BEGIN this journey.
- THIS IS AN US JOURNEY. A big part of growing in a LIFE OF PRAYER is seeing that prayer is not just you and God, rather it’s us and God. More on that this coming Sunday, January 5th, but until then, make the most of 21 DAYS OF PRAYER to be prayerful for the 1000+ people who are also part of this journey.
- EVERYDAY AT NOON. If possible, take time at noon over the next 21 DAYS to be in prayer for GENESIS. Very specifically, that the LORD would provide GENESIS A PLACE TO CALL HOME. In the Summer of 2025, GENESIS will be moving out of 35 Olympia Ave., but we have yet to secure a new space. So, at noon every day during the 21 DAYS OF PRAYER we are inviting GENESIS to take a moment… maybe 21 seconds to pray for God’s provision in a place to call home.
- BEGIN. TRANSISITION. FINISH. This past Sunday I shared that foundational to a LIFE OF PRAYER was beginning our day in prayer, using the many transitions throughout our day to be in prayer and making sure to finish our day in prayer. In short, a LIFE OF PRAYER is unending prayer and unceasing prayer.
This might look different for each of us, but the three prayers that I have been praying are:
BEGIN with, “LORD, what would please you today?”
TRANSISTION with, “Jesus, I invite you into this next moment. Keep me in step with You.”
FINISH with, “Heavenly Father, THANK YOU!”
I don’t know ALL that the LORD has in store for us over the next 21 DAYS, but I’m excited to experience together what God loves to do…
MOVE IN RESPONSE TO THE PRAYERS OF HIS PEOPLE.
