Marcelo F. Hernandez grew up in Miami, FL, near Holy Rosary Church. His upbringing in a multicultural, working-class community inspired his passion for bringing people together across different backgrounds. Now serving as the GENESIS Student Director, Marcelo helps guide THE JOURNEY a ministry focused on building real relationships, exploring faith, and creating a space where young people can ask questions, connect with God, share their love for Christ, and support one another. He aims to make faith accessible and relatable, avoiding the stiff formalities that make you feel like you're stuck in a lecture hall rather than a lively discussion. Although he does love a good lecture himself, as he is currently a student at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Marcelo loves the Bible and being around people he likes—and, unfortunately, those he doesn't like, too! He enjoys having honest conversations always striving to show how faith fits into real life. After all, the Bible is not boring; maybe the preacher is! Beyond ministry work, Marcelo values listening to others and building community. His goal is to create a welcoming space where people feel heard, respected, and empowered to grow in their spiritual journey—even if it means putting up with a few eyerolls along the way. Marcelo is Marcelo what does that exactly mean? We don’t know, but what we do know for sure is: please pray for Marcelo. A lot. Thank you!
