Dave and his wife, Marie, were born and raised in New Jersey, a good state to be from. Dave got his mechanical engineering degree from Rutgers and met his wife-to-be, Marie, in his senior year at a church Bible study. They were married in 1972 and started their family there but nine years later they escaped to the wonderful state of New Hampshire (yes it is part of the USA) where they enjoyed the mountains, lakes, and great clean air.
It was in Gilford, NH where their kids Dawn (now Dawn Corbin) and Dan grew up and developed their love for all things outdoors. Living next to a ski slope they developed a love for skiing and hiking. They spent a lot of time in the summer on Gilford Beach (on Lake Winnipesaukee) enjoying the lake and swimming.
Dave served as the plant engineer/maintenance manager in a couple of companies in the Lakes Region before teaching at the NH Community technical college for a few years. Much of that time was spent teaching in the Laconia prison (Marie would always kid him about going to prison every day).
A few years after becoming empty nesters, the Lord opened up an opportunity through Dawn for Dave to become the Training Manager and soon after that the Quality Manager at a Christian-owned high-tech machining company in Barrington, NH, where Dawn and Jason were living. The move to Barrington enabled them to become close to Jacob Corbin, their first grandchild, and soon after that Rachel Corbin (now Rachel Lamb), their first granddaughter.
They had a lot of good years in Barrington but near the beginning of 2017, Marie was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. In 2018, Dave retired to take care of her full-time. Their church was a great support but eventually toward the end of 2020 it became obvious that more care was needed for Marie than the part-time aides could provide. At the beginning of 2020, God provided an inheritance from Marie’s uncle that provided the funds needed for Marie’s care.
In 2021 Marie was moved to a memory care facility in Lexington, MA so that she would be close to Dawn who lived in Burlington, and Dan who lived in Natick. A short while later, after selling their NH home, Dave moved to an apartment in Burlington and eventually to an in-law apartment built onto the Corbin house in Burlington.
Dave had sworn that he would never live in Massachusetts but God has provided so much to him since his move here in so many ways, through family, Genesis, new friends, and opportunities to serve.
